BETH SAFFER - DESIGNER and FOUNDER OF BettinaBlue Designs: "HAPPY ART FOR THE YOUNG AT HEART"
***NEW! Visual blog! "Bettina.Blue.Skies" : www.bettinabluedesigns.tumblr.com **
Playful colors, Nostalgia, and F*U*N, is the decided style of artist, Beth Saffer of BettinaBlue Designs.
Bettina Sapphire, (her artist alter-ego name), wishes her artwork to be "Happy Art", a feel-good place to go. Having lived in London for several years, she found the English approach to bold color in design a tremendous influence.
Bettina graduated with a degree in literature and rhetoric at BINGHAMTON UNIVERSITY, finding the written word to link creatively with her visual statements. Years later, while raising her two daughters, she returned to her love of creating art in various mediums in Manhattan, and has continuously studied under the tutelage of renowned illustrator, Alan Reingold. Because she finds inspiration everywhere, photography has become an important part of her vision . Bettina's passion for color and form eventually led her to study for a degree in textile/surface design at the FASHION INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, NYC. These many creative journeys have led her to co-create a new surface/textile company: Bluebell Design Studios LLC (www.bluebelldesignstudios.com), licensing artwork for a wide array of products and fabrics.
Bettina is inspired by an array of artists and designers: Maira Kalman, Vera Neumann, Alexander Girard, Mary Blair, Charley Harper, Tricia Guild - for their whimsical play with color and pattern.
